West Tyrone ARC is taking part in the St Patrick’s Day celebrations on Monday 17 March running GB1SPD. They will be situated on the top floor of the Strule Arts Centre in the town centre operating on HF, VHF/UHF, Echo Link and digital modes between 11am and 5pm. Visitors are welcome.

Grey Point Fort will be running a special event station for St Patrick’s Day from 0001 to 2359UTC on 17 March. The Fort is situated on the shores of Belfast Lough, whose waters it once guarded, within Crawfordsburn Country Park. It will be operating as a fixed award station, part of the new St Patrick’s Day award scheme. You can find out more about the awards available at http://stpatrickaward.webs.com.

Russian special event station UE80HS will be on the air throughout March. This operation is being held to celebrate the 80th anniversary of Russia’s first astronaut Yuri Gagarin who was born on 9 March 1934. Gagarin was the first human to journey into space when his Vostok spacecraft completed an orbit of he Earth on 12 April 1961. If you work UE80HS, please QSL via RW6HS.
