Contest News – 7 December 2014

| December 5, 2014

The UK Six Metre Group’s Winter Marathon began on the 1st of December and continues for two months. The Winter Marathon isn’t a contest in the traditional sense; it’s basically a way of promoting activity on 6m during the winter. There are no points for individual QSOs, just for working as many Locator squares as possible. You can claim the squares worked in any 6m contest over the period, as well as non-contest QSOs. The exchange is simply signal report and locator.

The 144MHz AFS Contest is on from 1000UTC to 1600UTC today, the 7th. Using all modes the exchange is signal report, serial number and locator.

On the 9th it is the 432MHz UK Activity Contest that runs from 2000 to 2230UTC. Using all modes, the exchange is signal report, serial number and locator.

The ARRL 10m Contest runs for 48 hours on the 13 to 14th, from 0000 to 2359UTC. In this event everyone can work everyone. It is phone and CW on the 28MHz bands, with the exchange being signal report and serial number. American and Canadian stations send their State or Province code. It has too many sections to list here, so please visit the ARRL web site www.arrl.org to see them all.
