News for England Midlands – 7 August 2016

We start with clubs that have several events this week. Wythall Radio Club has its net on 145.225MHz or GB3WL from 8pm today and next Sunday. On Tuesday there’s a Morse class, club meeting and committee meeting. Friday sees the regular nibbles night in the shack. Next Sunday is Wythall’s 50th Year Carnival Special Event. Coventry Amateur Radio Society has its open net on Monday from 8pm on 145.375MHz FM and/or 7.16MHz ± QRM. On Thursday there’s an open net from 8pm on 50.175MHz SSB. Friday sees a barbecue and portable night at Newbold Comym, Leamington Spa. Contact John, G8SEQ, on 07958 777 363.

Gloucester Amateur Radio and Electronics Society has its Summer picnic and operating evening from 6pm on Monday at the Crickley Hill car park. Wednesday and Thursday see 2m nets from 7.30pm. Contact Anne, 2E1GKY, on 01242 699 595, daytime.

Lincoln Short Wave Club is taking part in the 430MHz UK Club Contest on Tuesday. On Wednesday there’s a nibbles and natter night. Thursday sees the club net on 145.375 from 8pm. On Saturday there is a special event station on the air at RAF Ingham Heritage Centre from 8am, then the usual shack activities and G5FZ on the air from 9am.
