News for England Midlands – 7 December 2014

We start with news that Wythall Radio Club, situated south-west of Birmingham near J3 of M42, will be holding a Foundation Course at their club room on Monday evenings from 8pm onwards, commencing on the 26th January for 6 weeks, with the practical assessments being carried out on Saturday 14th February. The exam will be on Monday 3rd March. Simultaneously, for those who cannot make to a classroom course and are looking for home study, Wythall Radio Club will be running an online Foundation course commencing around same time and, for those who can take the exam at Wythall, culminating in an examination on Monday 3rd March. Those participating in the online Foundation course will have to find a club local to them who can provide practical assessment and exam facilities, although these can be provided at Wythall if required. Now for clubs that have several events this week. Rugby ATS has its Christmas lunch today at the Barley Mow, Newbold. Tuesday sees the 432MHz UKAC, alongside other radio operation and projects. South Birmingham Radio Society is getting ready for Christmas party today. The regular coffee morning in the shack is from 11am on Tuesday. Wythall Radio Club is taking part in the RSGB 144MHz Affiliated Societies contest today and has its club net on 145.225MHz at 8pm tonight.

The Advanced exam is on Monday. The Tuesday Morse class is at 7.45pm followed by a committee meeting and preparing for the Christmas party.
