News for England Midlands – 8 June 2014

We start with clubs that have several events this week. Wythall Radio has a trip to the Junction 28 QRP Rally today, plus its club net on 145.225MHz at 8pm tonight and next Sunday. On Monday the Intermediate course continues. Tuesday sees a Morse class from 7.45 and at a committee meeting at 8.30. On Wednesday it’s the 80m Club Championship Contest CW leg from 8pm and Friday’s nibbles night in the shack starts at 7.30. Saturday morning sees practical assessments for the Intermediate course, and next Sunday there’s a trip to the Newbury Rally. Details from Chris, G0EYO, on 07710 412 819.

On Monday Sutton Coldfield Amateur Radio Society is meeting at Sutton Coldfield Rugby Club from 7.15pm. On Tuesday there’s an open net on 70.475MHz. South Birmingham Radio Society has its regular coffee morning from 11am on Tuesday. On Thursday there are training classes with Dave Murphy, G8OWL and on Friday there’s work dismantling equipment in the shack and the QRP Radio Rally at Alfreton Leisure Centre. Midland Amateur Radio Society is holding a committee meeting on Wednesday, alongside training classes and planning for the radio day at the farm site with family BBQ. Friday sees the QRP Rally at Alfreton Leisure Centre. Next Saturday and Sunday GX3MAR is on the air for the Field Day weekend at Cottage Farm with camping, barbecue and lots of fun. On Saturday and Sunday 21st-22nd, Bromsgrove and District Amateur Radio Club is putting GB1AMB on the air, from 9.00-15.00 for the second International Museums Weekend. Operating from part of the Avoncroft Museums site, on Sunday 9.00-15.00 the club will also be participating in WAB 50mhz phone contest. Wednesday night is the club data evening.
