NEWS FOR THE MIDLANDS

We start with news that Newton le Willows Amateur Radio Club, MX0NRC, has been re-formed. The club initially closed in 2000 after losing its regular venue but has found new premises. Meetings are now held every Wednesday from 7.30pm at Newton le Willows Sea Cadet Unit, 9-11 Cross Lane, Newton-le-Willows WA12 9PT. Now for clubs that have several events this week. Lincoln Short-Wave Club is at the Spalding Rally today. Tuesday sees the 144MHz UK AC from the shack. On Wednesday there is a natter night at the BSA Club and activities at the shack. The club repeater net is on Thursday on 145.725MHz from 8pm. The Saturday surgery and mentoring commences at 9am in the shack and next Sunday there’s a trip to the Junction 28 QRP Rally and the PW 144MHz Low Power Contest. Wythall Radio Club is holding its holding club net on 145.225MHz from 8pm today and next Sunday. On Monday the Foundation course continues and it’s the 80m Club Championships DATA Contest. Tuesday sees a Morse class from 7.45pm, followed at 8.30pm by free and easy session and the 144MHz UKAC Contest. Coventry Amateur Radio Society has its club net on Monday on 145.375MHz. Friday sees a talk on the Nuneaton Wildlife Centre by Geoff Grewcock. Contact John, G8SEQ, on 07958 777 363.

Friskney and East Lincolnshire Communications Club is running a club net on Monday from 7.30pm on 144.165MHz USB, vertical polarisation. The monthly club meeting is on Tuesday at 7.30pm. Northampton Radio Club has a 2m net on 145.4625MHz at 8pm on Monday. There’s a club evening on Thursday from 8pm till late. The club is 100 years early next month and is celebrating the occasion with a Centenary Anniversary BBQ and weekend special event station GB0WFX on 8th & 9th June at their cabin located in Ravensthorpe in rural Northamptonshire. The club callsigns G3GWB and G8LED will also be active. South Birmingham Radio Society is on the air and having an open meeting on Monday. The regular coffee morning is on Tuesday from 11am and Wednesday sees a lecture in the main hall.
