News for Scotland – 19 August 2018

We start with news from clubs that have several events this week.

This Sunday Aberdeen Amateur Radio Society is participating in the International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend at Tod Head Lighthouse. Thursday sees their club night. Contact Fred, GM3ALZ, on 01975 651 365.

Dundee Amateur Radio Club is preparing for the Montrose Rally on Tuesday. Next Saturday and Sunday sees them at the Montrose Rally, an air enthusiast and amateur radio rally, from 10am to 4pm both days, at postcode DD10 9BD. Entry is free, or £5 for a table. Inverness and District Amateur Radio Society is holding a club night on Wednesday and next Sunday, at 7.30pm on both days. Enquiries to John, GM0OTI, on 01463 791 444.

On Friday the West of Scotland Amateur Radio Society holds a talk by Jim, GM0UIN, Designing Custom Chips and Sensors, and Lab-in-a-pill Technology. For details, see wosars.org.uk.

Next Sunday CQ Scotland.com, part of the Mid-Lanarkshire Amateur Radio Society, and funded by the RSGB Legacy Committee, will be at the Montrose Rally. A buildathon is planned for those new to electronics and amateur radio, with the opportunity to solder up a fun, free electronic project kit.
