Soldering practice at YOTA-UK

The Youth Committee is involved in the following projects

  • Provide three articles for Radcom
    Completion date December 2015
    The Youth Committee plan on achieving this objective by providing quarterly articles to Radcom about the work that is currently going on and any special events taking place. The committee will upload regular blogs to the RSGB website and publish all committee meeting minutes
    July 2015 update—the Committee is set to surpass this target
  • Arrange and run Youngsters on the Air (YOTA) events
    Review date December 2015
    December 2014—The measures of completing this will be the participation of the 2015 IARU YOTA event, the organisation of the YOTA UK event and finally the participation in the YOTA Month 2015. The committee aims to achieve this by selecting a responsible officer for each one of these tasks with a project team and regular contact with the chairman and Board link
  • Establish links with other national youth organisations
    Review date June 2015
    The measure of this will be the number of youth organisations with which we have made links. The Committee will select a responsible officer—Liaison Manager—who will be responsible for making links with other organisations. The aim of this is to provide other organisations with the support that the Society has to offer and build good working relationships.
  • Represent the Society at youth events across UK
    Review date December 2015
    The measure of this will be the number of events that the Youth Committee have attended. The committee aim to complete this objective by compiling a list of the national events that are held that can relate to the hobby. We will aim to provide Society and Youth Committee representation at all applicable events.Summer 2015 update—Committee members have represented both the Society and youth in amateur radio at numerous rallies and other events, including the Scouting events Big Camp and Gilwell 24.
  • Develop formal proposal for young member DXpedition
    Completion date February 2015
    This has been completed and the RSGB Legacy Subcommittee and Radio Communications Foundation have kindly supported and funded Project DX15, which was led by Mike Jones and Mark Dumpleton.
